The Byte Size Audit System is most effective when it is developed in concert with the Byte Size Compliance System. This virtually guarantees that every element of the regulation or requirement is audited. It is also possible to convert an existing audit into the Byte Size Audit system. The audit system is built by your consultant using your regulation or existing audit, in collaboration with your subject matter experts. Each audit requirement is carefully considered both to describe what is required and how it will be scored. Critical items can be highlighted by weighting their score more heavily, or by making some minimum level of compliance a mandatory element to pass the audit. For some items, your consultant will suggest you do both. Behavior Change
Step-Changes in behavior are encouraged by creating two different passing levels for the audit. A "minimum requirement" level encourages facilities to rapidly improve. Then a second "prestige" level encourages facilities to continue to improve further. The individual mandatory items also promote step-changes in behavior. Incremental changes in behavior are encouraged by providing multiple progressive steps within each individual question, as well as a numerical overall score by section and for the audit as a whole. Specific recommendations are provided for every question so the facility is crystal clear on what it can do next to improve its score. [Audit results are provided not only in an easy to read text/recommendation format, but non-compliant (gaps) items are also provided in a spreadsheet, in an action-plan form that you can modify and track.] The ability to compare different locations or trend over time, down to the individual question level, also encourages incremental changes in behavior. And "playing games" to improve their score is not the problem that it is with many audits; each effort to "game" additional points moves the facility along the behavioral path you desire. |
