These are the most frequently asked questions about the Byte Size Audit System.

Do I have to build my entire compliance program with Byte Size Audits to take advantage of the Audit System?

No.  If you do use the Byte Size Compliance System to create your compliance program, you can be guaranteed that all elements of your program will be audited.  However, if you have an existing audit that covers your program, it can be converted into the Byte Size Audit System to get all the other benefits that our audit system provides.

How do you assure consistent scoring?

Each and every question is assigned unique multiple descriptive statements, describing ahead of time each level of scoring.  At the time of the audit, the auditor's observations (findings) are recorded, then compared with the descriptive statements to determine the score that is the closest match.  This doesn't remove subjectivity, but it does institutionalize it.  This helps different auditors, or the same auditor at different locations or over time, to record the same score for similar attributes.

The database features of the Byte Size Audit system also permit the auditor to easily compare the current findings and score with previous audits or other locations, to confirm the same score for similar findings.

Finally, questions and scoring criteria are rarely changed.  When a change is made, it is date-stamped, so you don't make comparisons that would be apples to oranges.

Sounds hard?

Actually, this is one of the easiest parts.  As part of our "Full Service Management of Compliance Programs" our consultant conducts your audit, included in your monthly fees (plus direct travel expenses).  You just "escort" our consultant and answer the questions you agreed should be asked.  You are given a full written report within 7 calendar days that includes specific recommendations for every gap.  You are also given a spreadsheet in an "action plan format" to track your progress on your gaps.

How do Byte Size Audits drive a step change in behavior?

Step-Changes in behavior are encouraged by creating two different passing levels for the audit.  A "minimum requirement" level encourages facilities to rapidly improve.  Some very critical items can be established as "mandatory items" that must be passed, also promoting step-changes in behavior.

And remember if you are using the entire compliance program, that you also get policy, procedure and TRAINING to change behavior.  Though you will recognize that feedback in the form of inspections and audits are a critical, and often missing component, and why so many procedures fail to change behavior even among a well-intentioned workforce.

How do Byte Size Audits drive incremental changes in behaviors?

Each audit question has several progressive levels of attainment, encouraging and rewarding improvement.  Human oversight has less impact than systemic errors.  The audit itself uses numerical scores in addition to passing levels, so even small improvements can be celebrated.

Another important factor is a second level of "passing score."  After meeting the minimum requirements of the program, and pausing a moment to celebrate, the facility is encouraged to renew effort to reach the next level (and perhaps have bragging rights).

Is this a consulting offering or a software offering?

Both.  Our consultants understand how to collaborate with your staff to build the program.  And they use a variety of tools from simple forms to complex database programs to build and manage your system.  Our database is a key player in the conduct of your audits, providing the foundation for making comparisons and trends down to the individual question.
